To succeed as the Purchasing and Logistics Lead, you should have:
- A college degree or equivalent management experience in a similar purchasing and logistics role, with 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred certifications include Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification (DOT) and Hazmat Vessel Shipper Certification (IMDG).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills emphasizing attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, team members, and all levels of employees, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- A solid team player who is self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to driving continuous improvement in operations.
Your responsibilities as the Purchasing and Logistics Lead will include:
- Creating purchase orders, negotiating pricing, and coordinating delivery schedules for raw materials and packaging with vendors. Resolving billing discrepancies and researching new vendor options as needed.
- Managing all domestic and international transportation of goods, ensuring timely shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Communicating with freight forwarders to schedule and track shipments.
- Preparing and providing all necessary shipping documents to freight forwarders, including certificates of analysis and origin, and handling all international hazardous material shipping requirements.
- Overseeing the renewal and maintenance of necessary certifications such as DOT, United Carrier Registration, and Apportioned License Registration. Ensuring compliance with hazardous material handling and reporting regulations.
- Working with the production team to determine shipment target dates and managing container and air freight shipment scheduling. Following up with freight forwarders to address any delays.
