Joining their Berkeley-based team at the historic Hotel Shattuck Plaza as a Financial Controller, you will lead hotel accounting and financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning while partnering with leadership to drive operational success.

To succeed as the Financial Controller, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management (CPA or advanced certification preferred)
- 4–6+ years of accounting and finance experience, including hotel or hospitality accounting experience and supervisory leadership
- Proficiency in hotel accounting systems (M3 Accounting), OPERA PMS, MICRO POS, and financial reporting tools such as ProfitSword
- Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills with fluency in English and the ability to support multi-departmental operations in a hospitality environment
Your responsibilities as the Financial Controller will include:
- Lead hotel accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes in compliance with hospitality accounting standards
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Develop and manage hotel budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis to drive profitability and cost control
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, tax filings, and hospitality financial regulations
- Collaborate with hotel leadership teams and department heads to support operational and financial decision-making
