Mortgage Repo Trader
Our client has an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic investment team as a Mortgage Repo Trader, where you’ll contribute to the success of a growing portfolio. In this role, you will execute repo financing transactions, optimize funding strategies, and actively manage counterparty relationships, all while supporting balance sheet management efforts. To thrive, you should have:
- 2–10 years of experience in repo trading, ideally with exposure to mortgage securities and collateral management.
- Solid understanding of repo markets, term structures, collateral requirements, and mortgage securities as repo collateral.
- CFA designation strongly preferred; advanced degree (MBA, MS in Finance, Economics, or related field) desirable.
- Proficiency with Bloomberg, repo trading platforms, Excel modeling, and Python; familiarity with LLMs and prompt engineering a plus.
- Detail-oriented and collaborative, with solid communication skills and openness to adopting new technologies.
Your responsibilities as the Mortgage Repo Trader will include:
- Execute and manage repo financing transactions for agency and non-agency MBS, including daily rollovers, rate negotiations, and counterparty diversification.
- Monitor market conditions and research trends across repo markets, interest rates, swap spreads, and Treasuries to inform funding strategies.
- Support liquidity and balance sheet management by tracking funding availability, counterparty exposures, and concentration limits.
- Leverage technology and analytics (Python, internal models, LLMs) to enhance efficiency, reporting, and decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance and accurate reporting by maintaining transaction documentation, adhering to regulatory standards, and contributing to internal strategy reviews.
