Our client's physical office is in the Houston, Texas Museum District. Staff currently work remotely, with responsibilities that include in-person meetings and events. They’re open to the candidate's location outside of Texas, but the candidate must be willing to become familiar with Texas politics and landscape.

The Director's success is measured by outcomes and the quality of their presence and relationships. This role requires working independently, demonstrating resourcefulness, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
By joining our client, you’ll be key in empowering BIPOC and historically marginalized communities through strategic leadership and community-driven development.
To thrive/succeed, you should have:
- Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-10 years of Organizational development and operations experience, including board governance experience, financial oversight, fundraising, and laws related to 501c3s
- Experience with adult education practices and how best to develop, implement, and evaluate training and scaffold knowledge at both the individual and institutional level
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize Salesforce to track relationships, training, membership status, grants, and capacity
- 7-10 years of content expertise in civic engagement, organizing, leadership development, and team building
Your responsibilities as the Director of Membership Development and Training will include:
- Oversee membership recruitment, onboarding, and capacity-building efforts, including convenings and planning processes.
- Develop and implement training, leadership coaching, and evaluation programs for members, hiring consultants as needed.
- Lead organizational assessments to improve operational excellence and align with strategic goals.
- Build and manage community-based regranting systems and support grant tracking and implementation.
- Develop and coordinate annual training programs covering civic engagement, leadership, operational management, and diversity.
- Manage staff, consultants, budgets, and statewide expansion initiatives, including the Academy for Civic and Organizational Leadership.
