Structural Designer/BIM Operator
Our client is seeking a talented Structural Designer / BIM Operator to join a dynamic and growing engineering and design team. In this role, the professional will create, maintain, and coordinate structural drawings and 3D models to support projects across various markets, including commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, and government sectors. Working closely with licensed engineers and project managers, this position combines technical drafting, advanced BIM modeling, and design expertise to ensure accurate, efficient, and coordinated project delivery from planning through construction.

To succeed as the Structural Designer/BIM Operator, you should have:
- Associate degree in engineering design technology, drafting, or a related field is preferred but not required, with 5–8 years of structural design/drafting experience demonstrating increasing independence and leadership.
- Solid knowledge of structural principles, codes, ordinances, design standards, and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Bluebeam, with familiarity in BIM best practices (ISO 19650, AIA BIM protocols).
- Solid organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain client-service focus.
- Experience managing worksharing, model ownership, Levels of Development (LOD 300–400), and implementing internal standards, libraries, and lessons-learned to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Our client prefers a Structural Designer/BIM Operator to have:
- Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Structural Design and experience on healthcare, education, industrial, or government projects.
- Knowledge of advanced structural analysis or modeling software and BIM integration, including specialized modeling for sloped structures, joists, and bent plates.
- Experience mentoring junior designers, creating training standards, and providing BIM training to project teams.
Your responsibilities as the Structural Designer/BIM Operator will include:
- Develop and maintain structural BIM models (Revit) and prepare accurate drawings, plans, sections, and schedules.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and MEP teams to integrate structural design into multidisciplinary BIM models.
- Perform clash detection, quality reviews, and ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, and company standards.
- Generate quantity takeoffs from BIM models to support cost estimation, procurement, and project documentation.
- Support team development and uphold company culture by training colleagues, promoting quality, and assisting in project coordination and site verification.
