Virtual English Language Teacher of Service (EL TOS) - Indiana Statewide
Hoosier College and Career Academy
The English Language Teacher of Service (EL TOS) will deliver direct provision for English language development to EL students (i.e., co-teaching, pull-out groups, support for online curriculum). The EL TOS is responsible for providing support to administration, teachers, and support staff to provide consistent and effective services to EL students. The Teacher of Service will implement programs, procedures, and support to ensure eligible students are successful in the educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Create, review, and implement the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with the building principal or designee and teachers, including data analysis, daily language development instruction, and other EL supports to ensure the EL student has access to standards-based grade-level content.
- Provide daily instruction to EL students based on Individual Learning Plan as differentiated by the English Language Learner Plan.
- Consistent and frequent collaboration with classroom teachers to ensure instruction and assessment are appropriate for the student at their current level of English proficiency.
- Oversight of ELD instruction by trained instructional aides on English language acquisition.
- Assessing and analyzing English learner progress to make instructional adjustments to improve student learning.
- Assist building administrators or designees with language proficiency testing to identify students who qualify for EL programs and to evaluate student progress.
- Assist each building principal or designee with ILP and NESP/Title III compliance.
- Providing EL expertise to case conferences for ELs with disabilities, retention meetings, MTSS meetings, referrals for the High Ability program, and other school-based processes about EL students.
- Implement the formal monitoring process for students who have exited EL services for two years after their reclassification.
- Support parent engagement and advocacy under the guidance of the EL Coordinator.
- Maintains confidential records on all referred students and student/parent contacts following federal and state law.
Requirements
- Must either have ENL licensure or be working towards your ENL licensure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards and WIDA Standards.
- Demonstrated effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent.
