As a QC Assistant Manager, you will oversee and lead quality control activities to ensure manufacturing processes comply with regulatory and corporate quality assurance standards. You will inspect and test materials and finished products, using tools like micrometers and optical comparators to verify conformance to engineering specifications. You will manage and supervise QC personnel, ensuring proper training and adherence to safety and quality protocols. Additionally, you will identify and implement quality improvements, track non-conformance issues, and support audits and supplier management efforts. You will prepare reports for upper management, assist with customer quality needs, and contribute to achieving company goals through proactive quality initiatives.
To thrive, you should have:
- High school diploma or GED, with at least two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in quality control or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of quality management principles and the ability to apply them to improve and maintain quality in manufacturing processes.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems, develop solutions, and promptly address issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presenting information clearly and engaging in group discussions.
- Knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Inventory software, and Order Processing systems, with the ability to learn and use new software as needed.
Your responsibilities as the QC Assistant Manager will include:
- Inspection and Testing: Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on incoming and outgoing materials and finished products, utilizing tools such as spring testers, micrometers, optical comparators, and plug gauges to ensure conformance to engineering specifications.
- Quality Control Oversight: Lead and manage the activities of quality control personnel, ensuring tasks are completed by quality standards, safety procedures, and ISO 9001 requirements. Provide training and development to ensure team understanding of responsibilities and procedures.
- Non-Conformance and Auditing: Identify and track non-conformance items using electronic systems; conduct supplier and internal audits in compliance with ISO 9000 standards; and support audits from ISO, ASME, API, and customers.
- Quality Improvement Initiatives: Proactively identify opportunities for quality improvements, cost reduction, and vendor performance enhancement, working closely with Product Engineering and Manufacturing to implement changes that align with company goals.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and distribute quality control reports, including project status, performance against budgets, and quality issues, to upper management and other stakeholders.
- Supplier and Customer Support: Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and support the Sales/Marketing departments and customers, ensuring customer quality needs are met and maintained.
