Tax Accountant
Our client is responsible for providing financial back-office services to several independent associated companies, including a full range of accounting, treasury, tax, and insurance services. They manage a variety of privately held legal entities related to real estate, debt and equity investments, royalties, and services-based organizations.
As a key team member, you will collaborate with the Sr. Tax Manager and Tax Director, contributing to domestic and foreign corporate and partnership tax matters. You will manage the tax compliance process, maintenance, and preparation of tax records, tax returns, and tax-related schedules and reports. You will also prepare paperwork for local, state, and federal income tax returns for submission within specified deadlines and provide tax planning and advisory services. Additionally, as a Tax Accountant, you will collect and analyze changes in local, state, and federal regulations to ensure work processes comply with those changes. To succeed as a Tax Accountant, you should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5-7 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA/EA certification a plus
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
- Experience with tax software. CCH experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven work experience as a credible tax accountant or similar role
- Good command of Microsoft Office, ProSystem fx Tax, and accounting software; SAP by Design is a plus.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping and accounting procedures
Your expertise and abilities will be instrumental in effectively carrying out these tasks:
- Prepare and file federal and state corporate/partnership tax returns, including domestic and foreign.
- Monitor and interpret tax laws, recommending process updates for compliance.
- Handle extensions, state apportionment schedules, and journal entries in SAP.
- Resolve tax issues, respond to notices, and prepare income/loss projections and budgets.
- Provide tax planning services, make estimated tax payments, and manage ProSystem fx Tax.
- Assist in Country by Country and Transfer Pricing reporting, including R&D tax credit calculations.
- Support tax audits, develop relationships with key contacts, and maintain the tax database.
