Paralegal – Bankruptcy & Debt Collection Law – Remote
Work from Anywhere! Offering remote work for individuals outside of our local branches.
Liberty Bank and Trust seeks a Paralegal to support our General Counsel in bankruptcy cases and debt collection matters. You will provide legal support, handle administrative responsibilities, and communicate directly with clients. You will be expected to demonstrate strong organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and a solid understanding of bankruptcy law and debt collection processes.
What does it take to become a Paralegal – Bankruptcy & Debt Collection?
- Assist attorneys in preparing and filing bankruptcy petitions, motions, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on bankruptcy cases and debt collection issues.
- Manage case files and maintain accurate records of all proceedings and communications.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, and court personnel regarding case status and updates.
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents as directed by attorneys.
- Help attorneys in court hearings and trials by organizing documents and preparing exhibits.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments within the bank to gather necessary information for cases.
- Assist in the recovery of debts through negotiation, mediation, and litigation processes.
To be successful, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field, or a Paralegal certification
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in bankruptcy and debt collection law
- Thorough knowledge of bankruptcy laws, procedures, and regulations
- Proficiency in legal research databases and case management software
- Paralegal Certification preferred. Staff Attorneys are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to occasionally travel up to 15%.
