To be successful, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Finance or Business can be considered with relevant experience); CPA preferred
- 3+ years as a Controller or Financial Manager
- Hands-on experience with payroll and payroll tax compliance
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Your responsibilities as the Controller will include:
- Financial Oversight: Manage all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month/year-end close processes to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations (including CDTFA sales tax), and internal controls; support audit processes and implement compliance best practices.
- Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and oversee credit card transactions and reconciliations to optimize liquidity and working capital.
- Oversee payroll processing and tax compliance, including payroll tax reporting and support for external tax filings.
- Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, policies, and procedures for efficiency and accuracy; lead initiatives to streamline operations.
- Partner with executive leadership to deliver financial insights; lead and mentor accounting staff while cross-functionally working with HR, procurement, and external auditors.
