Director of Public Policy
Hybrid – Washington, DC
National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), a one-of-a-kind national intermediary with more than 200 member CDFls and economic development nonprofits, is seeking a Director of Public Policy to lead our federal policy strategy, collaborating with national partners and coordinating engagement with Congress, federal agencies, and the Presidential Administration. Reporting to the President & CEO, you will track relevant legislation, advance policy goals alongside senior leadership, and align efforts with our Policy Strategic Plan.

To thrive, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s in Public Policy or related field preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in federal policy or advocacy, preferably in economic or community development; Capitol Hill experience is a plus.
- Solid written, verbal, and public speaking skills, with proven ability to represent an organization at public events and across various platforms.
- Proven ability to develop and adapt policy strategies based on legislative trends, organizational goals, and stakeholder input.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with policymakers, nonprofits, funders, and public-sector leaders.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 30%.
Your key responsibilities as the Director of Public Policy will include:
- Lead NALCAB’s federal advocacy efforts, engaging with Congress, federal agencies, and key stakeholders to advance the organization’s policy agenda.
- Represent NALCAB at external events, conferences, and public engagements to elevate the organization’s policy priorities.
- Collaborate with national partners and coalitions to develop and influence asset-building and community development policy.
- Oversee the creation of policy materials and provide technical assistance to members and partners on public policy issues.
- Manage the public policy team and departmental budget, and identify funding opportunities to support policy initiatives.
