Executive Assistant and Board Liaison
The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) is seeking an Executive Assistant and Board Liaison to play a pivotal role at the heart of AGB’s leadership, serving as a trusted partner to the President and CEO and as the essential connection to AGB’s Board of Directors. In this high-energy, proactive role, you will anticipate needs, build strong relationships across the organization, and ensure that executive and Board operations run seamlessly. You will work in AGB’s hybrid environment, spending at least two days each week in our downtown Washington, D.C. headquarters, and collaborating closely with colleagues and Board members across the region. To succeed as the Executive Assistant and Board Liaison, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience supporting a President/CEO or senior executive team, ideally within an association or nonprofit environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting a Board of Directors and committees, including governance processes, volunteer leadership, and confidential executive matters.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with the ability to produce polished, error-free materials.
- Refined written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, paired with high levels of organization, discretion, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, multi-priority setting.
- Availability for occasional domestic travel within the continental United States and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including volunteer leaders and cross-functional teams.
Your responsibilities as the Executive Assistant and Board Liaison will include:
- Serve as the primary liaison to the President/CEO and Board of Directors, managing communications, priorities, and relationships with discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
- Coordinate and support all Board and committee operations, including meeting schedules, agendas, materials, minutes, compliance documentation, and the Board web portal.
- Manage executive and Board meeting logistics end-to-end, including calendars, venues, contracts, travel, accommodations, registrations, and on-site coordination.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain high-quality executive and governance materials, including presentations, correspondence, background briefings, policies, and official records.
- Ensure effective governance processes and continuity, maintaining accurate Board profiles, policies, calendars, orientation materials, and governance tools in partnership with the Governance Committee.
