As the Mortgage Loan Closer, you will complete all the closing paperwork on behalf of the lender and send it to the title insurance company or the real estate attorney to complete the closing. As the person with the final review of the deal, this position is responsible for ensuring mortgage regulatory compliance.
To thrive as a Mortgage Loan Closer, you should have:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college, technical school, or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training. Familiarity with loan closing and documentation procedures is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with experience in banking software such as Encompass and IT core systems.
- Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly in writing, edit for accuracy in spelling and grammar, vary writing styles to meet specific needs, and effectively present numerical data.
- Skilled in managing customer interactions, resolving concerns, meeting commitments, and maintaining high satisfaction through effective communication and persistence.
- Ability to apply common sense to address challenges, interpret instructions in various formats, and adapt quickly to new technologies and procedures.
Your responsibilities as the Mortgage Loan Closer include:
- Document Preparation and Compliance: Create and maintain all closing documents to ensure they meet government compliance standards, including disclosures, fees, and legal paperwork.
- Loan Funding and Finalization: Fund completed loans, submitted funding wires through the wire exchange portal, and finalized files for sale to third-party investors.
- Borrower Interaction: Prepare and remit the Closing Disclosure, answer borrower questions, obtain necessary signatures, and schedule closing meetings with closing agents.
- File Management and Submission: Maintain accurate and current mortgage files, email executed packages to the post-closing team, and store completed files in credit administration.
- Investor Coordination: Serve as a liaison between lenders, overnight original notes to investors, and ensure timely submission for booking and secondary market sales.
